Last year small, Arizona-based custom motorcycle builder, Jason Sarratt from Hellcat Customs, formed Team Hellcat and went out to set a land speed record with the first Turbo Sidecar Motorcycle at the Bonneville Salt Flats. They packed up their turbocharged sidecar motorcycle, a trailer full of supplies and friends & family and set out to make history.
Jase offered to be guinea pig for the first year. He was a little daunted by it. There was much to observe and learn. The first year was used to test the elements, the machine and the rider.
“I‘d originally thought when I first stood out there at 6am as the sun peeked up that it was heaven. Heaven — where angels live and souls never leave. I know many of the greats whose souls still reside in the middle of nowhere are conversing with the part of my soul that’s still sitting there waiting for me to return for it. After some time went by, I realized that the 2-lane road that leads to Land’s End is not leading you to a piece of heaven. Quite the opposite, to be honest. That blacktop is the road to hell.“
Worries and doubts aside, he was successful in setting that record.
Bonneville or Bust!
Kelly needs some help! There’s a fundraiser page to help raise the funds to make the trip to Bonneville and they’re already 2/3 the way there! Consider giving them a boost and to be a part of a super cool thing: http://www.gofundme.com/2j1sf4
I’m proud to say that I donated to the effort this year and last year. And check out where my sticker ended up!
