Yesterday TLC announced it was renewing it’s newest “tattoo” show, NY Ink, for a second season.
NY Ink features Ami James, formerly of the now defunct TLC show Miami Ink. In season one the show centered around Ami’s quest to open a new, high-end tattoo shop (Wooster St. Social Club) in the heart of SoHo.
The first season chronicled Ami’s struggle to drum up business, dealing with his new team of artists (featuring Tim Hendricks, Megan Massacre (currently gracing the cover of Inked Magazine), Tommy Montoya, Chris Torres and Ami’s apprentice Billy DeCola) and two diva shop managers, Jessica and Robear.
Season one was full of personality clashes, a possible budding romance between Megan & Brooklyn “bad boy” Chris Torres, some tattoos here and there and a lot of strife. Honestly, the last few minutes of the season finale made watching the sometimes painful show worth watching. The editing, storytelling and filming made it worth while and hooked me in to giving another season a shot.
NY Ink will return in December 2011 with 10 more hour-long episodes.
