Kurt Sutter may be cantankerous at times. But he loves the loyal fans of “Sons of Anarchy.” Their loyalty seems to put him in the giving mood because he’s giving us even more of the show that we all love. This week the Sutterink/SOA YouTube channel roared to life.
With the blessing of the Mother channel (Fox/FX) and their digital team, there will be a huge social media push for season 4 of Sons of Anarchy. Mr. Sutter has been flirting with social media for a while now with Twitter, Facebook and an iPhone app for season 3 and now he’s going to fondle YouTube with his own weekly updates, behind the scene footage from the upcoming season and (I’m assuming) full-video “appisodes,” (unlike the static, page script dialogue we saw on the iPhone app) with the first one airing in July.
There are currently 2 videos uploaded. The first one is a candid video of Mr. Sutter sitting at home, stroking his daughter’s pet bunny while he explains the future plans for the SOA channel. (I couldn’t help to snicker a little bit while watching. The whole time I was reminded of Donald Pleasance stroking his white cat in “You Only Live Twice.” Minus the facial scar and Neru jacket, of course. Or for the younger crowd, Dr. Evil holding Mr. Bigglesworth.)
The second video is the first of a regular segment called “WTF Sutter” in which he will answer fan questions. This particular video is the answer to the popular question of what it’s like for Kurt and (his wife) Katie Sagal to work together. Obviously they decided to have some fun with it.
The channel is “subscription only” so that only SOA fans can watch the videos and get increasingly excited for season 4. At the moment the videos are able to be shared (which may change as the channel gets more populated with content). I’ll continue to share as long as I’m able to. And you should head over there and subscribe to this channel! That’s probably the best way to say “Thank You”.
