Amercian Chopper…and zombies!

TLC reanimates the recently defunct American Chopper by pitting Teutel against Teutel

Ok, so maybe I lied about the zombie part (I was inspired by the book title Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance – Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem! Yes, it’s a real book…)

But anyway,  TLC is on a tear of late, taking perfectly good shows (like LA Ink) and hyper-dramatizing them with creative editing, a la Jersey Shore or Real Housewives of [insert city here].

So, why settle for creating drama when drama exists freely? Enter Paul Sr. and Paul Jr…

The new show, “American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior,” begins filming next week and will premiere in August. It will center around the original Orange County Choppers shop, which is still run by Paul Sr., and Paul Jr.’s startup shop, Paul Jr. Designs, which is located across from the original OCC shop in Rock Tavern, NY.

Sr. and Jr. haven’t spoken in over a year, ever since Senior fired Junior from the family business. And if you remember, the two have been in a brutal legal battle over…what else? Cash and control. Senior is demanding the return of Junior’s 20 percent stake in OCC.

According to the NY Post, Junior rode out his one-year non-compete clause and moved into his new shop last week. Father and son remain at odds, with no resolution in sight.

“I’m always hopeful for a reconciliation, but sometimes these things happen for a reason,” Junior told The Post. Senior told The Post, “I’m happy he’s making an attempt to go out on his own, but I don’t feel he’s ever really followed through with anything in his life.”

Are you feeling the drama yet? How about the zombies? Think they’ll be any ultra-violent mayhem? Yeah, me neither…

That is such an awesome book! I thought I was the only one who knew about the parody.

Will it never end? Ugh. Do they even have an audience any more? On the book front, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was awesome!

  3. Does the motorcycle public really even care about these two clods anymore?! Hopefully the public will begin to recognize these two for what they really are – money grubbing crybabies whose only mechanical talent is to bolt prefab parts together.

May this new series die a fast and painful death.

Paul senior is such a success! He took his sons design methods.Hired five guys to continue them.Built a huge empire like bussiness worth zero. Has managed to turn all his blood family members against him. While he wines to his bought and paid for family, about a situation that he created himself. And in the process has destroyed a family,a bussiness and the concept of the Amercian dream. All in the name of greed!Look at the old clips from years past. All the anger, atitudes and controll matured into a corperate dictator surrounded by his agreeable subjects.

I’m giving it a few weeks. I get annoyed by the ridiculous destruction of things and general screwing off. It will be interesting if Jr’s shop has the feel of the first season. I doubt that will happen though.

@Micah: I just can’t bring myself to watch it. If they just showed the building of the bikes and some of the interpersonal relationships then maybe…but i can’t stand all the barking and blah blah that Sr. does.

I love American Chopper and hate the idea of them changing the format of the show. It is obvious it is a winner because of the success they have had and the offshoots like Pawn Stars which is the same type of family situation. Hopefully they don’t screw it up too bad
