Sons of Anarchy update 10.21.09

Episode 2.7 “Gilead”

From the Scriptures, “Gilead” means hill of testimony or mound of witness, a mountainous region east of the Jordan River, situated in the present-day Kingdom of Jordan.

“You know, this club needs a healing, brother. And you’ve got to be the one to deliver it.” -Bobby to Jax

The boys are locked up in the slammer with no friends to watch their backs. Opie’s up to his elbows holding down the Teller-Morrow fort, trying to fulfill Clay’s requests & on top of it, his own kids. Gemma struggles to find solace while doing whatever she can to get her boys out of jail. Everyone is trying to make sense of it all and find some inner peace.  **Spoilers ahead**

The good:

  • the vulnerability of SAMCRO in jail
  • Helloooo Agent Stahl
  • the Zobelle/IRA connection: guns
  • Juice’s comical “romantic” endeavors
  • Gemma calling in the favor on Elliott Oswald & the really sweet interaction with his daughter, a rape survivor
  • Opie stepping up to the plate for the club
  • Tara calling Lyla “porn girl” (it made me snicker)
  • Agent Stahl’s tactics putting a bigger rift between Clay & Jax, leading to the inevitable blow-out
  • the palpable tension and parting of ways when the guys get home, leaving Gemma & Tara perplexed

The not-so good:

  • Juice getting shivved for his troubles
  • Plan backfired and Sheriff Trammel getting popped.

Sons of anarchy news

Ratings:
TV by the Numbers reports that last week while Sons of Anarchy didn’t make the weekly cable top 40 by viewers (it was 49th, 3.312 million) it was the number three show with adults 18-49 on cable, trailing only ESPN’s Monday Night Football, and TBS’ coverage of game one of the NLCS between the Phillies and the Dodgers.

Sons of Anarchy was the only scripted show in the 18-49 top 10 last week and was also the only scripted non-animated show with adults 18-34 last week, coming in 8th.

Charlie Hunnam on Carson Daly
Kurt Sutter posted this video interview on his site last week. Somewhere in the swirling voids of my mind I knew that Charlie was English, but hearing him speak normally threw me off a little!

And speaking of…here’s an eyeful of man candy featuring young Mr. Hunnam for you ladies! Aww…so cute!

Next week:
Episode 2.8 “Potlatch”

Zobelle’s business dealings with SAMCRO rivals exacerbate divisions in the club, which is already riven by the Jax-Clay split. And complicating matters further, Georgie Caruso’s (Tom Arnold) thugs attack Luanne’s studio. Meanwhile, Clay comes to an agreement with Elliott Oswald; and Chibs’ estranged wife shows up at his hospital bedside. Tara’s professional and personal lives begin to collide.

About Charlie, you should hear his accent in the movie “Green Street Hooligans” (a very good film, btw) and then you’ll see how english he is :)
I feel Charlie has so many talent to show and he will sure continue to reveal it.

    (sorry my english)

    Greetings from Portugal!

  2. Maria says:

I want to know how this split is going to hurt Gemma. She may have to make a choice between her son and grandson and her man (are they married? she still goes by Teller). How is tha going to play out?

I was worried Stahl might have had info on Gemma’s rape and try to fuel rage by using it, was glad it was just the IRA.

Bobby is really stepping up for the club, really trying to keep everyone cool.

Opie is losing it big time. I think he should hook up with porn girl and try to make something out of that. He could help her get off the meth and she can help with the kids win/win.

The fight between the guys was needed but I don’t feel satiated.

    No report on Chibs??????????

  3. Maria says:

OH my how could I forget to mention. The time in the church between Gemma and the young girl (can’t recall her name) was really touching. Really just so dynamic. It seems like the girl knows that SAMCRO got her revenge? how is that going to shape her future?

  4. Jake says:

I thought the ending was perfect…The way the club is divided now it really fit…Every week I wonder how this show can get any better and it never fails to deliver.

  5. kickstand says:

So much going on in this episode! At first I thought Rosen’s daughter’s name was Kristin, but when I heard it again it was Tristan (my grandson’s name). Have never heard this name used for a girl – interesting. I have to read the production blog each week to get all the details of the story line since my hearing is bad and I can’t get all the dialogue even with the volume up high. Watched the interview with Charlie – oooh the accent just makes me love him more! – Now I have to watch Cold Mountain yet again to see him in his early career! he makes me drool when the hubby isn’t around… Hope his script with Brad Pitt comes to fruition. KK

  6. Natasha says:

most interested in the gemma incident, to see your rapist on the street is the worst feeling in the world….What would be worst then that, finding no justice. What would justice be to Gemma, from Gemma.
The whole porn thing is getting to be too much….Keeping the club together is what should be done, hey we ride for life, we die for life (members), were in this club for life……A true Biker : my Dad…. Also more hot chicks needed, nothing is hotter then a chick on a harley…Aloha From Hawaii
