Sons of Anarchy update: 9.02.09

The wait is almost over! Season 2 premiere of Sons of Anarchy is next week, Tuesday September 8th at 10 pm!

There’s no doubt that there’s a lot of anticipation for next week to get here already so we can delve back into the brutal world of Charming and into the tumultuous clubhouse of SAMCRO. I know that for me, personally, I’ve probably forgotten how heavy & violent the show really is and I’m getting myself geared up for the culture shock of being thrust back into that world again.

Sons of Anarchy back on next week!

Sons of Anarchy back on next week!

Thar be spoilers, Captain!

If you don’t want to know anything about season 2 events, stop reading now!

What will be be seeing in season 2?

Season 2 picks up where the first season left off. SAMCRO is in turmoil, they still have the ATF buzzing around their noses and the gun running biz is all but extinct. Jax & Clay are now in the midst of a Mexican standoff and that leaves the club divided.

If you’re a fan of Opie, like I am, you’ll be glad to know that he’s sticking around this season, full of appropriate drama and dedicated to Clay, which I’m sure will put a strain on his friendship with Jax.

It’s been alluded to that there are other chapters of Sons of Anarchy in other areas of the country, and we’ll see SAMCRO team up with SoA Oregon to team up for some crime.

SAMCRO will also dabble in the porn biz this season. They will help Otto’s old lady, Luann, run her adult movie business. This will lead to a series of half-nude girls hanging around to entertain the fellas. According to E! News, one of the characters, a seemingly sweet single mom, will make a move on Opie; while another aggressive actress wants Jax  for herself. Tara doesn’t like that very much, naturally, and you will love what she does about it.

Oh, and apparently we won’t be seeing any of Wendy, played by Drea DeMatteo this season. I don’t think I’ll miss her much.

While the Mayans were SAMCRO’s enemies last season, this season they take on the Aryan Brotherhood (led by Adam Arkin & Henry Rollins) who want to destroy pulverize SAMCRO by any means necessary. And they’ll go to any extreme to do so. Let’s face it, the Sons of Anarchy are not good guys, but these guys are worse.

And what about that “horrifying event”?

There’s no other information other than it’s “Horrifying. Terrifying. Stomach-turning.” YIKES.

SOA bounced NCIS out of the top slot to become my new favorite show!

During the run-up to the start of the first season, the teasers didn’t really “grab” me. But last Saturday, I was channel surfing and happened upon a rerun of episode 6 (or 7) on FX. Episode 6 was immediately followed by 7, 8, and 9 (or 10)…I was hooked.

First thing Monday, I went out and bought the first season boxed set at Wally World and watched every episode during the next 3 days. Loved it!

After watching the special features and learning that the guy in prison (Otto?), in addition to being the show creator is Katey Sagal’s real-life husband, I understood how she seems so perfect in the role of Gemma.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hope that Jax and Tara get together for good; and it won’t bother me a bit if we never see the junkie ex-wife again. I think Tara’s character could grow into “the queen.”

However, I’ve got my reservations about how well Jax could adapt his father’s vision for the club…we haven’t heard enough of it to know for sure (though I do like the narration element), but it sounds just a little “biker hippie commune” to me at this stage of the game. If it [the show] is going to sell, you’ve got to have the grit and the ‘outlaw’ element.

Regardless, I’m looking forward to Season 2.

There’s a lot more I could say about it, but I’d be repeating myself see http://www.bikernewsonline.com/2008/01/sons-of-anarchy-to-begin-shooting.htm#c575071343203524883 for the long version.
