The people responsible are the slow drivers in front of billy. If the people would just go the speed limit and stop talking on the phone there would be alot less problems! Now they will lower the speed limit to make it “safer”, great now we all get to spend more time driving slow.

In reply to the moron who said to go to Miami and protest at the super bowl… you need to pay more attention to who’s on what team.
Donte played for NO from 2002-2005.
The horrible accident that he was involved in was On the morning of March 14, 2009.
He took responsibility of his actions as well. The Judge sentenced him to the jail time, not the NFL. The NFL suspended him for a Year… the reacted more appropriately than the legal system did, he should have been given a much longer sentence but because he owned up to what he did, the judge let him off easy.
For what it’s worth… Billy Lane was a bit of a dick everytime I had dealings with him. It was a handful of times (maybe 14 or 15 encounters) but each time he acted like a dick.

and also for what it’s worth… what the hell are pregnant women doing in your bar?…. Dumb…

i think he got off easy! you play you pay! i did 4 years in ny state prison for dui (5 in a 20 year period) i haven’t had a drink in 8 years! i never killed any one!! at the same time i was in prison there was a nyc cop who killed a construction worker on the throgs neck bridge coming from the bronx to queens. he got a 1-3 sentence and was out in a year!!! i think that it shouldn’t make a difference who you are everyone should be treated the same!!!! but yhats not how it is!!!

Responding to Katmandu, perhaps Lane is a jerk but as far as bike builders go he had one serious rival and that was Indian Larry. Unlike OCC which is a bike assemble plant Lane was w/o a doubt one of if not the greatest bike builder of our time!

Well……… It seems that all of you have it all figured out. You all seem to know Billy so well… And some are even saying that G. Morelock was a “Black Man”. You guy’s even have a certain criteria for what a “real biker” is. Well, from all the people who posted on here that I know actually know Billy, the only name I recogonize is Katmandu. Other than that none of you assholes know who and what you are talking about. I don’t have to speak for Billy or Billy’s feeings about HIS situation. What torques the shit out of me is when some so called “Bikers” are amazed that a Biker was involved in an alcohol related incident. I don’t know what kind of fucking shadow riding asshole bikers you guys hang out with but alcohol is a part of the biker culture wether you like it or not. I am not saying that it is ok to get drunk and slam into someone or go home and beat your wife and kids. But this happens A LOT in the biker world. The other thing is what in the world do you people want from Billy? The guy has assumed responsibility from the begining and got 6 years in STATE prison 3 years probation. And no he is not getting out in two how some of you seem to say. In the state of Florida you must serve a minimun of 85% of your sentence. That is not a guarantee that is just a best case scenerio. And for all you inbred dumb asses that is roughly 5.1 years. Why don’t you guys that are complaining about Billy go to Miami. Go and picket in front of the Superbowl to the NFL and let them know how you feel about New Orleans Saints wide receiver Donte Stallworth. A guy who was high on Marijuana and alcohol and killed a father of three, the only working adult in the family. Donte Stallworth did 24 days in jail. You tell me who got the raw deal. Enjoy the Super Bowl asswipes

Ok not that he don’t deserve some punishment but seriously I hear bout all this he should get what an average person gets.. ok well my brother was killed bya drunk driver and the man that did it revieved 30 days in jail and some fines so I don’t like to hear he needs what average man gets.. they r trying to make an example out of him because he is a motorcycle rider and builder… yes he needs puniishment and believe if he. Has a sole he will pay for it every day for the rest of his life … he is by opinion one of the best motorcycle inovators obviously or he would not have half the life he has had but to talk smack bout someone that u can not even compare to well ur just haters….

Wow what an assortment of judgmental dumbasses.
I knew Billy and talked with him about his admitted guilt and his settling with the Morelock family early on to help them get through this financially without their breadwinner. The man was a Black man so “white trash” seems a bit weird. They were both drinking but Billy admitted doing the wrong thing as soon as he sobered up.
Having worked fabricating highend custom aircraft for 30+ years we had a bond as I had with Indian larry before his death. Larry and I spoke about Billy’s need to sober up. It was sad to see him wasted and this did in fact do what he could have done himself.
If everyone was ranked in order of intelligence and the top 95% were allowed to live…bouncers wouldn’t make the cut.

He drank and drive. It was a conscience decision to drink and drive. He killed a man. How many of you “true” riders have been run off the road by someone who either was not paying attention or was probably drunk? You, like me cussed wishing you could get your hands on the asshole. Billy Lane killed a man. Look at the build off he won which was aired on TV. He was drinking and driving then. You kill a man as a result, you go to jail.

There’s no need to slam anyone when they’re down, especially someone who is generally a good guy. I agree, Billy could be arrogant and was self-absorbed, but most celebrities are. It’s a consequence of having everyone around you kissing your ass all day…it tends to warp one’s reality/humility. Believe me, he didn’t pull that “don’t you know who I am” bs when he came home. The REAL bikers, yes I said the REAL bikers would have kicked his ass back to Melbourne.

RIP Gerald Morelock, who was also drinking and driving that fateful evening.

First off I would like to start off by saying my prayers go out to the Morelock and Lane families. Wow what a huge mistake that Billy has made. And being a real true person it seems to me from what I have read or heard. I dont know him personally. But seems to me that he has accepted responsibility, and taken it from the get go. Im sure, I just feel it in my heart that Billy is not thinking about his lisense, or bikes, or business right now. But the mans life he ACCIDENTLY took. This SHOULD be a lesson to all of us who have even one or two drinks and get behind the wheel. I have been in a simular situation, I did not kill anyone, but got into alot of trouble over 3 drinks!! I just thank god that someone was not walking across a street, or while I was driving like a total ASSHOLE did not kill anyone. We bike and car guys we are born show offs. Its just us and a way we have fun. To often it gets us in jail or trouble. Folks please believe me when I tell you its so much cheaper, easier, safer what ever to walk home, call someone, call a roll back to tow you, than it is to put the keys in and drive or ride ANYTHING!! I hope to see Billy back in a few years after he takes care of HIS mistake. I pray for him that he comes out the other side a stronger wiser man. God bless you Billy, and may the lord forgive you of your sins. Im sure the weight to carry this the rest of your life is going to be heavey!

My young son got 10 1/2 years, as his first arrest ever. Passenger that died was his best friend. We didn’t have money to appease the family. That is how it often goes in Florida. Corrupt piece ‘o shit state this is. The judges, prosecutors, attorneys make me want to puke and wretch. They are all rich and act like it. I hope karma is…what goes around, comes around.

Gerald is right, Billy is an arrogant asshole. The key is, he hides it very well fooling most of the morons that inhabit the motorcycle world- like that’s a real feat. Anybody bother to skim his “autobiography”? The amount of ego within is unreal. And that’s the way he is. Knowing him since back in the Miami days, I can tell you (imho) that the tears are about the punishment, not remorse. And the Morelocks are a bunch of sellout whitetrash losers. If I was killed in such a fashion as GM, I would hope my family would beg the judge to have my killer buried under the jail. Seems to me, the Morelock clan figured Billy was worth a whole lot more to their “non-profit foundation” out of the slammer. The whole thing is pitiful.

6 years is fair for the current manslaughter laws. I am glad e got the same treatment as the average Joe. Unfortunately I believe that if you drink and get behind the wheel it is no longer manslaughter but premeditated. You don’t drive somewhere and get drunk by accident.

Lane is not even in the top 30 as far as talented bike builders go, he also isn’t a “real biker” I used to work as a bouncer at Boot Hill Saloon where he thought his noterioty gave him special privledges that others didn’t enjoy, like comeing in with big packages knowing it would cause others to be uncomfortalle and cause possible fights. I wouldn’t let him on several occasions and always heard the same thing (Do you know who I am ) I don’t really care no one gets preferential treatment at my door , with the possible exception of pregenamt women who I let in ahead of others so they could sit down. Billy Lane never cared about anyone but himself and was not a true or anywhere close to being old school as he claimed to be . Not to mention the fact that he hit an old man on a mini bike and if he could have got the truck started he more then likely would have left the scene…
