Okay Digger, maybe I should have been clearer on the whole “boxers or briefs”–I wasn’t referring to regular shorts–and hey, I’d be good if “Jax” went commando….really good. (Whew, it’s hot in here again…..)
But, seriously, I can’t stand folks riding in shorts and sneaks–it looks dorky as hell and it’s unsafe, so the “bonus” is some of those who ride that way won’t be around to do so for very long.

I can tell you first hand the only fucks that ride wearing tennis shoes are wanttabeeeessssss. I am a President of a MC. I would send my Sgt @ Arms to rip the patch off one of my guys if they wore shorts and tennis shoes. I know the HAMC do have people wearing Shoes and shorts that work along side them. A true biker would not be caught in shoes/shorts. But i do like the show alot for the story line is good. Digger

I like the show, better than most of the garbage out there. Many things are grounded in a form of reality, however many of the happenings and involvements are not. Clubs are different, in some clubs women have no standing or say, in others they do. This is obviously a show with stories and information from a lot of different sources and it is entertainment, are you not entertained? Enjoy the show for what it is, it has motorcycles in it for God sake!!! and it is something that I can understand and enjoy whether or not it is completely accurate.

I love the show but i have to agree, NO ONE WEARS WHITE SHOES…… I have been wearing black boots since my early teens. all my buddies wear black boots. I have been waiting for the 2nd season of SOA. My boyfriend & I got hooked on it the first time it came on. I find it amazing some of the comments on here made about bikers, tennis shoes & a bunch of other ridiculous crap. This show is for entertainment purposes. We ride my boyfriends Nighttrain & have a blast. It isn’t a fashion statement you make when you ride, it IS about the freedom you feel & the wind in your face.

When my husband starting watching the show I thought I’d find anything else to do while he did that. However, I started listening to it while doing other things and before I knew it, I was counting the days till it came on. I think it is an awesome show, and althougth I don’t know anything about “real” biker clubs, I do know things on tv aren’t always 100% accurate. For example I am an army wife and I watch the show “Army Wives” and laugh at the “stereotypes” that aren’t true. But it still is enjoyable to watch. I can’t wait till SOA comes back on. Hopefully it will be on the internet too so my husband can see it from Afghanistan.

Well being a biker myself I enjoy the hell out of this show. Though I did see a comment about a girl that is a bikers daughter the show is SEMI realistic. Any major club has their hand in the drug business there is a pretty good chance you wont find one who doesn’t. HOWEVER other than that it is pretty dang close. Bikers do wear boots though lol not chuck d’s :-p

about the shoe comment, in real life, look at the mongol nation. The newer generations wear whatever they want. Many young mongols dont even have bikes. They were recruited to fight the hells angels, and to make money. To them, they don’t care if they have bikes, they just want to make money, and be powerful.

also the show is great entertainment, who cares how historically accurate it is. Even a “ride till i die” biker would enjoy the show.

I was a ranger in the 1/75th and hung out with the Wingmen MC Savannah, So when I see “Ranger” based movies or tv airings I laugh, When it comes to the MC thing I think SOA is pretty much dead on.. alright we’ve all ripped on alter boy enough for making an ass out of himself but i gotta point out somethin that didnt sit right with me… the says he rode back in the fifties… meaning 50-60 years ago… assuming that his fake mc didnt induct people who couldnt actually ride that would make him at least 16… what is a 70 year old man doing on the internet? what i think he really meant was he kicked it with a barber shop quartet in the fifties… and he didnt really kick it with them he just saw em one time… and not in person it was one the back of a record… and alter boy wasnt really what they called him it was the name of a song they sang. anyways the show is written well definitely entertaining. season 2 should be good. oh and

Isn’t everyone getting just a little worked up over tennis shoes? I’ve been riding bikes all my life, and one thing I’ve always loved is that it’s just me and my bike. All the fashion police get left behind. (Though I could never shed the black leather jacket and tough boots).
Chill out and enjoy the show for what it is, a damn good yarn with a little bit of brain food thrown in.

I love the show, the characters and the stories. It’s a great antidote to all the rain and speed cameras I gotta put up with in the UK. I don’t expect some daft revelation about what life’s really like as a 1%er, I know enough to know that it’s not for me. I just watch the show, fix up my bike and find rallies to go to.

Bring on season 2 and ride free!

I’m sixteen years old and I’m real big on SOA and motorcycle clubs. My dad is in a club, and they’re like family to me. We would all gather around once a week at one of our houses and watch SOA. It was like a family reunion once a week. Can’t wait for season two to come out. I’m so excited. Keep me updated on the new season.

Leave the sneaks alone. That is part of a new generation of bike riders. The older members of soa wear the old school look which is fine, but being on a bike in this day and age is about the individual look. standing out.

I think the acting is top notch. I don’t think peg bundy anymore after watching Segal act in this series. I would have liked tougher looking bikes and boots instead of sneakers, but you don’t throw away a harley because it has a scratch in the paint. I like the unpredictable intense action that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Guns, bikes, and women , throw in a couple semis and who could ask for anything more!! Lol

I currently ride (and have been riding since the early 70’s) and while the SOA members don’t look like the bikers of that era, they do look like the younger outlaw bikers here in Calif. Alot of young club members wear the baggy pants and sneakers here in the Bay Area. And mostly white sneakers with red accents, if you know what I mean…

I’ve also seen people complain about the blacked-out FXD bikes with the small fairings that they use on the show. Those too are very popular with the younger members here, while us older guys ride the baggers. While the characters may not look like the typical bikers in other parts of the country, they do represent the club members here in Northern CA (where the series is set).

As I’ve been reading the comments come in from everyone about the show, I’ve found it interesting that so much discussion revolves around the white sneakers that Jax wears and the legitimacy of the show because of them.

There definitely seems to be two schools of thought behind what biker fashion is. I have to admit, I have been known to wear sneakers (Vans) on occasion when I ride and I have seen people wear sneakers on many other occasions.

My husband always wears boots, but he wears Doc Martens (or Bates) not the typical motorcycle boot (and frequently scolds me if he sees me wearing sneakers).
It seems like the image of the typical “biker uniform” is definitely changing and Matt M. nailed the “new school” look that is made up of Dickies or black jeans, “wife beaters” and maybe a chain wallet (and defines my husband’s riding fashion quite nicely).

White sneakers aside, I think that the show has definitely hit home with it’s intended audience. Oh, and don’t let Mr. Pickleberry bother you guys too much. He is a colorful character invented by a very imaginative writer.

Ok.. mr. pickleberry is rediculous! this being said from an actual bikers daughter.My father was the leader of the club out of pheonix AZ of the dirty dozen.I know alot about bikers, granted they dont really wear sneakers..but who gives a ****.They are shoes. give the show credibility for what it is. its ingenious,horrible accurate for what really does go on inside a “club” and its a great story line as well as the acting is brilliant. I never thought I would respect the chick from married with children doing a tv series but yanno she fits the whole mother/whore biker wife to a T. There isnt a better “tv” program out there I would rather watch and I look forward to biting my nails and yelling at the screen as well as wetting my pants over mr.jax in the second season!! HAPPY WATCHING!

OK, I’m not going to spend too much time on the old guy, who was the “Alter Boy” 50+ years ago. Times change, move on and get over it. The white sneaker is a Charlie Hunnam thing.

Now that’s out of the way….I passed this show over, until….Shit, it’s got Charlie Hunnam! I started watching it because of Charlie, but quickly realized it was the total package. The writing, acting and production are excellent.

I don’t watch “network TV”, EVER. Corporate white male America has ripped up everything to the point of being unrecognizable and this is proof that there are still GREAT WRITERS, PRODUCERS, AND AT LEAST ONE NETWORK that has the balls to put out gritty, exciting and fairly belivable work. Kudos to Kurt Sutter, FX and the entire cast of SOA. I await the new season with bated breath!
