Sons of Anarchy season 2 update

For those of us who eagerly wait for the next season of Sons of Anarchy to come about, we will take any little scrap of news about the upcoming second season.

Kurt Sutter recently posted an update on his blog about the progress of writing for season 2:

I’ve finished a draft of the first script and my writers are in the process of writing 202 and 203. We’ve broken the first four episodes and have a pretty solid handle on the arc of the season. Two weeks ago, I pitched the big ideas to the network and they loved them. It’s cool when your boss is also a fan of the show. I don’t just get “that’s good for the network”, I get “that’s great shit for the show”. They had very few notes on the first script, so we are off to a good start with the story-telling. My hope is to have four scripts approved by the time we start production at the end of April.

Obviously, I can’t give anything away, but I as I’ve said in a few interviews, this season is all about alliances. We are going to explore and exploit the bonds we have with our brothers, our family, our country and our god. As I was writing this first script, I smiled when I realized that I get to channel all my twisted Catholic angst into a show about men who play God. I love my fucking job.

Still uncertain exactly when season two will air. A lot depends on FX’s development slate. I will keep you posted.

It’s always a good sign when the writer himself is giddy with twisted excitement!

  1. Sorry Rippin Kitten. I don’t buy the show. Dude running around in white tennis shoes supposed to be some bad ass biker. Hardly! Back in the early 50′s I ran with the Basicilians outta Dyersville, Iowa Called me the Alter-Boy. Tough Hell Raising group.

We woulda booted that punky baggy jeans wearing, high top tennis shoe freak right out of the doors of the Pink Cross Tap if he woulda ever showed up. Wanta throw my Jack bottle right through the TV when I see that show come on the tube.

  2. Lizzie says:

Mr. Pickleberry-I understand that you’re of a fictitious nature and you “not buying” the show is really of no relevance to the writers or network.

I appreciate how you creatively stocked your comment with such colorful fables of your golden past. Did your club wear black frocks and white collars when they rode?

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Look forward to hearing from you again. Follow me on Twitter @rippinkitten!

I have never been more excited about a show in my life! I’m addicted! Well Done!

  4. tammy says:

I LOVE THE SHOW AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEASON 2!!!

  5. Thats Funny says:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA “Alter-Boy”? I happen to know some Hells Angels (You know a real biker gang). And if your name was Alter Boy your a liar talking out your rectum. Thats just hilarious.

  6. Sue Andrews says:

You are the most talented writer this is THE BEST SHOW TO HIT TV. My husband and I can’t wait for season 2 and hopefully more. It’s nice to know that there are people still out there with talent.

  7. KristilMethod says:

OK, I’m not going to spend too much time on the old guy, who was the “Alter Boy” 50+ years ago. Times change, move on and get over it. The white sneaker is a Charlie Hunnam thing.

Now that’s out of the way….I passed this show over, until….Shit, it’s got Charlie Hunnam! I started watching it because of Charlie, but quickly realized it was the total package. The writing, acting and production are excellent.

I don’t watch “network TV”, EVER. Corporate white male America has ripped up everything to the point of being unrecognizable and this is proof that there are still GREAT WRITERS, PRODUCERS, AND AT LEAST ONE NETWORK that has the balls to put out gritty, exciting and fairly belivable work. Kudos to Kurt Sutter, FX and the entire cast of SOA. I await the new season with bated breath!
    Peace,

  8. Lizzie says:

I’m glad to see everyone so excited about the show as much as I am. I do admit that I was not so convinced when it started but it definitely grew on me.

If I hear anymore news about the show I’ll be sure to let everyone know.

  9. Glen Hughes says:

I know I’m late to this party but “alter-boy”? I wonder the history of that, as opposed to “altar-boy”. Give me a break.

  10. broken biker says:

I love the show cant wait for season 2. But i do have to agree with mr. pickle, the white sneakers gotta go

  11. CountessSyn says:

Ok.. mr. pickleberry is rediculous! this being said from an actual bikers daughter. My father was the leader of the club out of pheonix AZ of the dirty dozen.I know alot about bikers, granted they dont really wear sneakers..but who gives a ****.They are shoes. give the show credibility for what it is. its ingenious, horrible accurate for what really does go on inside a “club” and its a great story line as well as the acting is brilliant. I never thought I would respect the chick from married with children doing a tv series but yanno she fits the whole mother/whore biker wife to a T. There isnt a better “tv” program out there I would rather watch and I look forward to biting my nails and yelling at the screen as well as wetting my pants over mr.jax in the second season!! HAPPY WATCHING!
    oh and mr.pickle?? GO **** Yourself = )

  12. Jenny says:

I think this show was awesome. You are a great writer and I can not wait until Season 2 starts. Screw what these banshee ass critics say. Sons of Anarchy kicks ass.

  13. reggie pride says:

i need this show back on air. it’s script reads like real conversation and the dialouge especially Gemmas’ is so raw and in your face. i’m waiting hoping i don’t get caught up in any show and forget about SONS OF ANARCHY

  14. MATT M says:

I RIDE WITH A BUNCH OF BIKERS ALL THE TIME…. THE TENNIS SHOE THING IS IN WITH THE YOUNG RIDERS THESE DAYS… IN THE SUMMER AT BIKE SHOWS ITS NOTHING TO SEE HUNDREDS OF YOUNG MEN ON BIKES WEARING DICKIE SHORTS, OLD SCHOOL VAN SHOES AND WHITE TANK TOPS…. I DEFFINATLEY THINK THAT THE NEW GENERATION OF BIKERS IS HERE AND THE OLD GENERATION, “alter bitch” OOPS I MEAN BOY IS OUT.. GET OVER YOURSELF.. DUDE THE SHOW ROCKS JUST KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING..

  15. Bone Daddy says:

I have to say first off that this show is awesome. loved every minute of it. As a young biker myself i have to agree with matt m. all you haters should quit knockin the guys shoes. Theyre no worse than your overpriced harley boots dude. besides i know guys that ride in flip flops man. some of the coolest guys you’ll ever meet, and they aint spring chickens to say the least. anyway rock on soa cant wait for season 2

  16. Lizzie says:

As I’ve been reading the comments come in from everyone about the show, I’ve found it interesting that so much discussion revolves around the white sneakers that Jax wears and the legitimacy of the show because of them.

There definitely seems to be two schools of thought behind what biker fashion is. I have to admit, I have been known to wear sneakers (Vans) on occasion when I ride and I have seen people wear sneakers on many other occasions.

My husband always wears boots, but he wears Doc Martens (or Bates) not the typical motorcycle boot (and frequently scolds me if he sees me wearing sneakers).
It seems like the image of the typical “biker uniform” is definitely changing and Matt M. nailed the “new school” look that is made up of Dickies or black jeans, “wife beaters” and maybe a chain wallet (and defines my husband’s riding fashion quite nicely).

White sneakers aside, I think that the show has definitely hit home with it’s intended audience. Oh, and don’t let Mr. Pickleberry bother you guys too much. He is a colorful character invented by a very imaginative writer.

  17. Roadpossum says:

I currently ride (and have been riding since the early 70′s) and while the SOA members don’t look like the bikers of that era, they do look like the younger outlaw bikers here in Calif. Alot of young club members wear the baggy pants and sneakers here in the Bay Area. And mostly white sneakers with red accents, if you know what I mean…

I’ve also seen people complain about the blacked-out FXD bikes with the small fairings that they use on the show. Those too are very popular with the younger members here, while us older guys ride the baggers. While the characters may not look like the typical bikers in other parts of the country, they do represent the club members here in Northern CA (where the series is set).

  18. Ultan says:

“I don’t buy the show. Dude running around in white tennis shoes supposed to be some bad ass biker.”

I don’t know where Mr. Pickleberry has been, but in my ‘burg (Ventura, CA) I see young bikers in sneakers all the time–and they are certainly bad ass. It ain’t the ’50′s any more, Jack. Me, I still wear big, black Frankenstein-style engineer boots, but I’m an old dinosaur.

  19. EasyRida says:

I have to say that alter ego is a dumbass. I can’t say i know much about Cali. but i do know a lil bout riding adn in the last four years of riding i might have worn boots three timesw. Tennis shoes are the shit with us young people get with the times.

As far as the show i am waiting very impatiently because it is the best show to hit tv since i was born in 1985…

  20. Cassie says:

i laugh at people that dont know jack shit about bikes. It doesnt make you cool if you dont know what the fuck you are talking about. So give it up, if you genuinely do know a think or two about bikes aka COUNTESSSYN, then you can voice your opinion as much as you would like. BUT if you dont ride, or dont OWN your own bike. Keep you “im so smart” opinions to yourself.

  21. Josh String says:

Like the show. Hurry up and air season 2 please

  22. Jessica says:

My dad is a 1%er and do you really think they give a shit what you are wearing? (Besides your colors!) It’s not about that it’s about what you and the club stand for not some fashion show. Get a grip people! I love the show the only thing I don’t like is they let a little too much information into the public! I’m with Cassie if you dont know what you are talking aboutdont act like you do.

  23. Kayleigh says:

Love the show! Mr. Dickberry, you don’t know shit dude. Why must ppl make shite up to ‘seem’ cool. My dad is in the hell’s angels, and I ride a harley soft tail myself. I ride in STILLETTOS bitch! Little mini skirt, it’s just for shows mostly. I see young riders in all sorts of getups, sneakers, sandals, shorts, shirtless etc. It’s not what you’re wearing hunny, it’s what you’re RIDING! You better feel that shit vibrate between your legs. As for Jax(Charlie), guy is H.O.T! Love to be on the back of his ride any day- white sneakers & baggy jeans. ; ) Peace out, Ride Hard & Die Young

  24. mayo says:

the white sneakers is a west coast thing. look at your guys who ride who arent 70. jesse james for example wears them.

  25. hogman says:

who the hell is pickleberry or dickleberry? The show is cool and me & the old lady cant wait for season2.It dont make ashit what u wear.It matters what u stand for.The whole ridin thing is about freedom, not what u wear or what some judgemental asswhole thinks about u.who gives a f***?

  26. truckin biker says:

I think the acting is top notch. I don’t think peg bundy anymore after watching Segal act in this series. I would have liked tougher looking bikes and boots instead of sneakers, but you don’t throw away a harley because it has a scratch in the paint. I like the unpredictable intense action that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Guns, bikes, and women , throw in a couple semis and who could ask for anything more!! Lol

  27. evajane says:

All of you guys are a riot. Who the hell cares what they’re wearing. And what’s the deal with the pissing contest? It’s a TV show. A great TV show at that. I can’t wait for season 2!!!

  28. gazza says:

i agree with evajane, very funny reading all your comments.i’m a brit and i know pretty much nothing about bikers, other than my wife who is from a biker family(uncle serving time)and mum who was a “biker chick”so have heard stories, but the show is fantastic and i only started watching it cos i was bored one night.thank god for crap nights on tv.

  29. James says:

Leave the sneaks alone. That is part of a new generation of bike riders. The older members of soa wear the old school look which is fine, but being on a bike in this day and age is about the individual look. standing out.

  30. hells angels says:

I beat up and some times shoot riders wearing any color tennis shoes. Unacceptable. I think that’s the reason samcro isn’t too fond of jax. They are gonna have a huge falling out over his shoes.

  31. BRANDON J says:

Show rocks. Sounds like soom people should go to generational gap and diversity classes to learn and respect old school and the new school and how thing in the future will happen. Old school thanks for intro of bikes. Season 2 cant wait to see it. Young ryder from MINNESOTA,BRANDON J

  32. broken biker says:

hey its FICTION nobody in the real world wears sneakers

  33. broken biker says:

i work construction and wear shorts to work . weather i drive the truck or ride the bike.

  34. jeff says:

LOVE THE SHOW~its been to long of a wait for a show like this~THANKS P.S. it dosent matter what you wear until you lay it down at about 70 mph then you cant have enough leather rapped around you:)

  35. who me? says:

The shoes don’t make the man .

  36. maddon says:

everybody has a comment . To all the experts out there
in couch potato land . This show is just not only about
the biker lifestyle. It is also about the forgotten rules of life – which are loyalty ,friendship, family.

  37. Norton John says:

Hey, not too many of the “younger generation” like real motorcycles. I could see a kid with biker club ties riding with the pack but not totally giving up their generations idea of fashionable footwear…

  38. Stacy says:

I’m sixteen years old and I’m real big on SOA and motorcycle clubs. My dad is in a club, and they’re like family to me. We would all gather around once a week at one of our houses and watch SOA. It was like a family reunion once a week. Can’t wait for season two to come out. I’m so excited. Keep me updated on the new season.

  39. Sprocket says:

Isn’t everyone getting just a little worked up over tennis shoes? I’ve been riding bikes all my life, and one thing I’ve always loved is that it’s just me and my bike. All the fashion police get left behind. (Though I could never shed the black leather jacket and tough boots).
Chill out and enjoy the show for what it is, a damn good yarn with a little bit of brain food thrown in.

I love the show, the characters and the stories. It’s a great antidote to all the rain and speed cameras I gotta put up with in the UK. I don’t expect some daft revelation about what life’s really like as a 1%er, I know enough to know that it’s not for me. I just watch the show, fix up my bike and find rallies to go to.

Bring on season 2 and ride free!

  40. gunmetaljoint says:

if the alter ego wants to ride in his pink tutu, who’s to say he cant? dont understand all the fuss. am i missing something here? i am in england but its our understanding here that only steers and queers come outta dykersville. could be wrong though. i think the SOA is a great show so that shows how clever i am dont it? :)

  41. joel says:

alright we’ve all ripped on alter boy enough for making an ass out of himself but i gotta point out somethin that didnt sit right with me… the says he rode back in the fifties… meaning 50-60 years ago… assuming that his fake mc didnt induct people who couldnt actually ride that would make him at least 16… what is a 70 year old man doing on the internet? what i think he really meant was he kicked it with a barber shop quartet in the fifties… and he didnt really kick it with them he just saw em one time… and not in person it was one the back of a record… and alter boy wasnt really what they called him it was the name of a song they sang. anyways the show is written well definitely entertaining. season 2 should be good. oh and

a real hells angel wouldnt chance getting caught up over a pair of shoes so put your air soft gun away.

  42. butterbean says:

nicknames stick with you alter boy. ill be butterbean for life cause im a big bald boy and a one hit wonder. knocked one dude out for 8 minutes. i dont even wanna think about the catholic priest gave you yours.

  43. Ranger says:

You guys know its a show right… and just like anything else if you do the real thing your gonna disagree with things you see on the tube.. I was a ranger in the 1/75th and hung out with the Wingmen MC Savannah, So when I see “Ranger” based movies or tv airings I laugh, When it comes to the MC thing I think SOA is pretty much dead on.. Jax wheres sneakers big deal, look at his age then compare him to the rest of the club.Go to a few bike nights and youll see times have changed

  44. Ranger says:

Oh and the show itself, it was genius to have the airings side by side with the Sheild.. I thnink if you watch that your the kinda guy or gal that would love SOA.. I got hooked on it just based on the type of show and when it aired

  45. G Money says:

They called him “Alter-Boy” because he use to take it up the ass…..hahah i love SOA

  46. Stevo says:

about the shoe comment, in real life, look at the mongol nation. The newer generations wear whatever they want. Many young mongols dont even have bikes. They were recruited to fight the hells angels, and to make money. To them, they don’t care if they have bikes, they just want to make money, and be powerful.

also the show is great entertainment, who cares how historically accurate it is. Even a “ride till i die” biker would enjoy the show.

  47. Tami D says:

To those of you who feel the need to brag up your “MC Affiliation” real or “ahem” otherwise, Stop being such drama queens and putting so much stock in a TELEVISION PROGRAM WRITTEN FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY!!!. To those of you who watch this well written, well scripted, and well acted show on a regular basis Kudo’s!!

Stevo said “even a ride till I die” biker would enjoy the show.

    Ditto.

Keep it coming FX, you have a winner with SoA.

  48. Matt says:

Well being a biker myself I enjoy the hell out of this show. Though I did see a comment about a girl that is a bikers daughter the show is SEMI realistic. Any major club has their hand in the drug business there is a pretty good chance you wont find one who doesn’t. HOWEVER other than that it is pretty dang close. Bikers do wear boots though lol not chuck d’s :-p

  49. Shelly says:

When my husband starting watching the show I thought I’d find anything else to do while he did that. However, I started listening to it while doing other things and before I knew it, I was counting the days till it came on. I think it is an awesome show, and althougth I don’t know anything about “real” biker clubs, I do know things on tv aren’t always 100% accurate. For example I am an army wife and I watch the show “Army Wives” and laugh at the “stereotypes” that aren’t true. But it still is enjoyable to watch. I can’t wait till SOA comes back on. Hopefully it will be on the internet too so my husband can see it from Afghanistan.
